On Monday, April 18th, 2022, Kayla Regan and Pat Bolton ran their first ever Boston Marathon in support of Mass Mentoring Program (MMP)! This was the fourth year in a row that the ALKrew participated in the Boston Marathon. Both Kayla and Pat had an individual fundraising goal of $15,000 leading to a combined fundraising goal of $30,000.

Leading up to the big day, both Kayla and Pat completed individual training as well as running in the Eastern States 20 Miler together on March 27th, 2022. This was a great 20-mile race that prepared them for running 26.2 on their big day!

On Monday, April 11th, ALKU held a Boston Marathon Fundraising event at Wamesit Lanes. During this event the ALKrew bowled, participated in raffles, while having delicious food and drinks. This was a great way to have some fun with teammates and help Kayla and Pat reach their fundraising goals. In total, Kayla and Pat raised a $2,626 from this event.

On Monday, April 18th, Both Kayla and Pat’s individual teams came and cheered them on from the sidelines for their big day, showing support for their amazing accomplishments. The rest of the ALKrew showed their support by watching the Boston Marathon live throughout the day on all company TVs and tracking Kayla and Pat’s progress on the B.A.A mobile app. This was the first time that both Kayla and Pat have ever run 26.2 miles and they made it look like a breeze!

Personal achievements and company connection aside, Kayla and Pat ran the Boston Marathon with a shared motivation in mind; to support MMP. MMP supports mentoring relationships through their work with over 370 mentoring and youth serving organizations across Massachusetts. These programs serve over 50,000 young people each year from Boston to Pittsfield, MA. Most of these young people come from low-income families with a single parent household and will be the first in their family to go to college. Young people now more than ever need the support of MMP, and the ALKrew was thrilled to be able to support through the Boston Marathon.
