On Monday, April 17th, Director of Marketing, Becca Crossley and Payroll Manager, Pat Boodry completed the 2023 Boston Marathon in support of Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP), with members of their teams cheering them on throughout. This was the fifth year in a row that the ALKrew has participated in the Boston Marathon and Becca’s second time running the marathon in support of MMP.
Leading up to the big day, the ALKrew prioritized supporting Becca and Pat to help them reach their individual goals of raising $15,000 each for MMP. Several spotlights were shared internally, and events were held in the upcoming months, such as a bake sale, selling Super Bowl square grids, and the ALKarnival, which raised $1,756 for the runners.
Throughout the months of training, Becca and Pat prioritized running, strength training, nutrition, and overall health to ensure they would perform best when completing the 26.2 miles.
Personal achievements and company connection aside, Becca and Pat ran the Boston Marathon with a shared motivation to support MMP. MMP supports mentoring relationships through their work with over 370 mentoring and youth-serving organizations across Massachusetts. These programs serve over 50,000 young people yearly from Boston to Pittsfield, MA. Most of these young people come from low-income families with single-parent households and will be the first in their families to go to college. Young people now more than ever need the support of MMP, and the ALKrew was thrilled to be able to support them through the Boston Marathon.
Congratulations to Becca, Pat, and everyone participating in this year’s Boston Marathon! Cheers to going above and beyond and running 26.2 miles!
