Why did you apply to be a part of the new leadership of AWE?
I applied to be a part of the new leadership of AWE because women empowerment in the workplace is something that is extremely important to me. I also look up to Kate, Kathie, and Leah as being the trailblazers for women at ALKU and am excited to continue what they have started.
How do you support women in your community or at ALKU, or both?
I lead a team with three women at ALKU who inspire me each day. We are always encouraging each other to speak up, state opinions, and to be better employees. Additionally, I am heavily involved in the ALKU Gives Back initiatives including the $30,000 ALKU Scholarship where five out of our seven ALKU Scholars have been women.
What is a new idea or initiative that you plan to bring to AWE?
I hope to bring relevant topics that I see every day to the AWE meetings. I also hope to get other women at ALKU to join AWE, speak up at meetings, and feel comfortable bringing topics and new ideas to the new AWE leaders.
What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
To me, International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate and recognize all of the achievements and milestones that women have accomplished in history. It is also a day to acknowledge that women have come along way but there is still a lot of work to do to reach women’s equality especially in the workplace.
Who is an ALKrew role model of yours that inspires you?
A role model of mine is my manager, Becca Crossley. From my first day at ALKU, she has always inspired and encouraged me to speak up and be confident. She is also always the first woman at ALKU to celebrate other women’s accomplishments, promotions, and successes, big or small. She is someone that I know many women at ALKU look up to.

Best advice you could give to a woman starting at ALKU?
Don’t be afraid to put yourself into uncomfortable positions and work hard for the things that you believe in.
What is your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasures are watching cheesy TV shows (One Tree Hill, Riverdale, and Vampire Diaries to name a few!) and reading sappy romance novels (Nicholas Sparks is a must!)
If you could raid one woman’s closet whose would it be?
I would probably have to raid my mom’s closet. Anyone that knows her knows she is a fashionista! I aspire to be as trendy as she is one day!
