From his podcast recommendations, favorite app for brewery lovers, Kyle shares this and more below!

What is your favorite podcast?
Can I pick more than one? If I had to pick one, it would be Song Exploder. Each episode has an artist breakdown and a song. I like that it includes the song’s inspiration and an analysis of the music itself. If I got to list some of my other favorites, it would be Lore, History This Week, and My Dad Wrote A Porno.

Who would you want to have coffee with?
Is this another one where I can pick more than one?! I love music and almost went with Beethoven, but I’d pick John Adams in the end. He lived during such an exciting time in American history and, on many fronts, was a forward thinker compared to his contemporaries. So much of what he fought for is still relevant today, so I think it would be a very interesting cup of coffee.

What ERGs are you a part of?
I am a part of the Parents ERG. I enjoy swapping stories with other ALKU employees on the awesomeness and craziness of kids!

What ALKU Gives Back events or programs have you participated in?
I am incredibly proud to be a part of the Business Technology and Operations Rodman Ride for Kids fundraising team. Being the top fundraising group in the company wasn’t an accident. Throughout the fundraising period, we supported and encouraged each other in our efforts to tap our network. Still, it all culminated with us hosting a ”Farmer’s Market” day in the office, including homemade baked goods, jewelry, custom-made gift baskets, and more. The team knows the impact Mass Mentoring Partnership has on our community and wanted to give 100% effort into fundraising.

Are you involved in giving back to your local community?
Every year I volunteer at the Jane Lloyd Fund Clambake, which raises money to help pay the everyday bills for those going through cancer treatment. It is an event my wife and I have been volunteering at for the last 15 years, but unfortunately, Covid-19 caused the event to get canceled. We look forward to the event resuming next year!

What’s your career theme song?
I love this question! Drew Goldstein, who also works on the Business Technology team, asks this of new hires in the trainings that he hosts. It’s tough, but I’d say “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns n Roses. I’m not a die-hard Guns n Roses fan, but that song grabs your attention from the first note!

What app can’t you live without?
Untappd! I’m a big beer guy, so of course, I have to log all of my beers…always! But it might be more than a hobby. Even my daughter has been to 205 breweries…and she’s 5!

What is your favorite office lunch spot?
Shawsheen. Order the California Turkey Panini and add pickles to the sandwich; it’s so good!

What is your go-to pick from the snack closet?
Either the fruit (boring, I know!) or the pretzels with Tzatziki sauce.

How do you Have Fun Working Hard™?
I always try to bring some jokes, laughter, or a smile to meetings. Everyone at ALKU puts in 100% effort, but it’s important to keep it fun!

What is your biggest career advice?
Ask lots of questions! Is there a better way to learn than asking questions?! It might result in an obvious answer or a silly answer, or a complex answer you don’t understand, but if you don’t ask, you’ll never know. Plus, if you are thinking it, someone else is too!
