We are extremely excited to introduce our newest Unity Leader, Sales Trainer, Caree Pitts! Caree was selected as one of the new Unity Leaders because of her impeccable organization, determination, compassion, caring, and kind traits. She displays everything that Unity has been searching for and so much more. We cannot wait to see how Caree continues to grow the ALKU Unity Family! Congratulations, Caree! Check out the answers Caree provided below!

Why did you want to join Unity’s Leadership team?

I wanted to join Unity’s Leadership team to continue the growth of the group and presence within ALKU.

How does Unity help support the ALKrew?

Unity helps support the ALKrew by giving employees of color a place to feel supported at work regardless of what is going on outside. When I first started, I felt so welcomed, but I also noticed that almost all my co-workers didn’t look like me. Unity gave a space to acknowledge and celebrate each other’s similarities and differences. Now, 4 years later, I get to hear new hires be amazed at how diverse our ALKrew is and how ALKU is one of the 1st times they “weren’t the only one”.

What does the future of Unity look like?

Colorful! – Pun intended—As ALKU’s ERG for employees of color, our goal is to continue to grow and represent all the wonderful backgrounds that make the ALKrew who we are.

What is one thing you wish people knew more about Unity?

That we LOVE guests & anyone can sit in! While we don’t have an ERG for allies specifically (yet!), we all know that ALKU is a big family full of people who want to go above and beyond for one another daily. We love having guests come in to be a part of the conversation. Guests are welcome, even if they come to hang out and get to know other employees from different backgrounds that you might not interact with daily.

Unity Bio:

For employees of color at ALKU to share experiences, provide fellowship and support, enhance career and personal development, and contribute to ALKU’s vision and values. We feel it is important for the underrepresented population at ALKU to have a safe space to meet and discuss life both outside and inside ALKU.
