What motivated you to join Unity’s Leadership team?
I heard so much about Unity from the moment I started at ALKU. During my first couple of weeks, I got the chance to meet several members of Unity, and they all welcomed me with open arms. Starting a new job and making friends can be challenging, but this group made it so easy for me to settle into a new environment and helped me feel like I belonged. Once the opportunity presented itself to where I could collaborate with such a special group of individuals and be a driving force for all the ideas that stem from this group, I couldn’t pass it up!
How does Unity help support the ALKrew?
Unity is the voice for so many ALKU employees who come from different cultures and have unique backgrounds. This group works as a safe space for one another, where the conversations are authentic, emotions are let out, and you can speak your mind without being judged. We support one another by engaging in important conversations and shedding light on topics & causes that are important to our people.
What is one thing you wish people knew more about Unity?
I would want everyone to know how accepting and open our family is! We want to learn more about one another; we love hearing each other’s stories and perspectives. We understand that every person is different because that’s how it should be!
What advice would you give someone interested in joining/learning more about Unity?
Talk to someone in Unity! Ask someone to chat for a few minutes or ask them to lunch, and any of us will be more than happy to answer your questions!
What does the future of Unity look like?
The future of Unity is bright! With ALKU growing as fast as it is, we’re seeing this growth reflect on our respective teams, leading to more employees of color wanting to join Unity. This growth means new stories, ideas, and future leaders of Unity!
What do you hope to bring to Unity as a leader?
I hope to bring a friendly face and positive attitude to one of the most vibrant groups at ALKU! I look forward to being a voice for Unity and pushing this group to do amazing things inside and outside the workplace!

We feel it is essential for the underrepresented population at ALKU to have a safe space to meet and discuss life outside and inside ALKU.
